Matt, a native of south Alabama reignited his love for playing guitar and songwriting after graduating from the University of Alabama in 2005 and moving back to his hometown of Daphne, AL. For 7 years he played locally while pursuing a career in homebuilding and developing his sound and skills as a songwriter. He moved his family of four to Nashville in 2013 to pursue a career as a songwriter and artist, using his construction background to establish himself as a longtime resident of the Nashville area. Influenced by Nashville legends like Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, and Merle Haggard, it was Jamey Johnson's "That Lonesome Song" album that helped him realize a classic sound still had a place in current country music.
As a regular playing some of the most iconic songwriter venues in Nashville such as The Local and The Commodore Grille, Matt set out to begin a new project in late 2021 that would spotlight his solo songwriting abilities. His debut release "Dream House" was written and recorded for his wife and two sons and touches on his construction background and long time desire to build them the perfect home. Now set to release multiple singles in the summer of 2022, songs like "All You Need" and "Nowhere Alabama" reflect on his love for his home state and the landscape around him. "I want people to hear my songs and instantly know I am a hardworking guy that loves his family and his hometown. I feel like country music has wandered a bit from the everyday working class type of listener that longs to connect on a personal level with a song."
